Step-by-Step Guide to Brewing Espresso at Home

1. Grind Your Coffee Beans:

  • Grind your FA beans to a fine consistency, resembling table salt.

2. Preheat Your Espresso Machine:

  • Turn on your espresso machine and allow it to warm up for at least 15 minutes to ensure proper temperature stability.

3. Measure the Coffee:

  • Use a digital scale to measure the correct amount of coffee grounds. Aim for around 18-20 grams for a double shot.

4. Tamp the Grounds:

  • Place the grounds into the portafilter and evenly distribute them.
  • Firmly tamp the grounds to create a level, compact puck.

5. Flush the Group Head:

  • Before brewing, run a short burst of water through the group head to flush out any old coffee residue and ensure a clean extraction.

6. Lock in the Portafilter and Start Brewing:

  • Start the extraction process immediately after locking in the portafilter to minimize heat loss.

7. Monitor Extraction Time:

  • Aim for an extraction time of 25-30 seconds for a double shot.
  • Adjust your grind size if the extraction is too fast or too slow.

8. Observe the Espresso:

  • Watch the espresso as it extracts. It should have a steady flow and a rich, golden crema forming on top.

9. Enjoy Your Espresso!

  • Savour the rich flavor and aroma of your freshly brewed Sweet FA espresso.
  • Experiment with different grind sizes to find your perfect brew :)
